Kanakuk Coffee Cake Recipe

Kanakuk Coffee Cake is known for its sweet, creamy taste. Kanakuk Kamps, a Christian sports camp in Missouri, served the cake to the kids.

Butter, sugar, eggs, flour, and sour cream make a moist and soft cake batter. A cinnamon-sugar streusel gives it a crunchy, sweet base. The cake is served warm with coffee or tea.

Kanakuk Coffee Cake is famous outside of camp. Some people add nuts, fruit, or chocolate bits to the batter to change the recipe.

How To Serve Kanakuk Coffee Cake

Warm: This coffee cake tastes best when it’s warm, so you can reheat individual slices in the microwave for 10-15 seconds or in the oven at 350°F (180°C) for a few minutes before serving.

Plain: The cake itself is sweet and buttery, so you can serve it as is without any toppings or additions. It pairs well with a cup of coffee or tea.

With a dollop of whipped cream: If you want to add a touch of decadence, serve the coffee cake with a dollop of whipped cream on top. This will add a light and creamy contrast to the rich cake.

Fresh fruit: You can also serve the coffee cake with a side of fresh fruit, such as berries, sliced peaches, or mango. This will add a refreshing and colorful element to the dessert.

With a drizzle of glaze: If you want to dress up the coffee cake, you can make a simple glaze by mixing together powdered sugar and milk until smooth. Drizzle the glaze over the warm cake and allow it to set before serving.
