Ingredients

  • 1 cup of heavy cream
  • 1 cup of whole milk
  • 1/2 cup of granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup of cornstarch
  • Pink food coloring

Instructions

  • In a medium-sized saucepan, combine the heavy cream, whole milk, and granulated sugar. Stir the mixture over medium heat until the sugar has dissolved completely.
  • In a separate bowl, mix the cornstarch with 1/4 cup of water until it's smooth and free of any lumps.
  • Slowly add the cornstarch mixture to the saucepan with the milk and cream. Stir the mixture constantly over medium heat until it starts to thicken. This should take around 5-7 minutes.
  • Once the mixture has thickened, remove it from the heat and add a few drops of pink food coloring. Stir the food coloring into the mixture until it's evenly distributed and you've achieved the desired shade of pink.
  • Allow the mixture to cool to room temperature, stirring occasionally to prevent a skin from forming on the surface.
  • Once the mixture has cooled completely, it's ready to serve. You can serve the Tubby Custard in bowls or pour it into a container and store it in the fridge for later.
