- 1 cup of heavy cream
- 1 cup of whole milk
- 1/2 cup of granulated sugar
- 1/4 cup of cornstarch
- Pink food coloring
In a medium-sized saucepan, combine the heavy cream, whole milk, and granulated sugar. Stir the mixture over medium heat until the sugar has dissolved completely.
In a separate bowl, mix the cornstarch with 1/4 cup of water until it's smooth and free of any lumps.
Slowly add the cornstarch mixture to the saucepan with the milk and cream. Stir the mixture constantly over medium heat until it starts to thicken. This should take around 5-7 minutes.
Once the mixture has thickened, remove it from the heat and add a few drops of pink food coloring. Stir the food coloring into the mixture until it's evenly distributed and you've achieved the desired shade of pink.
Allow the mixture to cool to room temperature, stirring occasionally to prevent a skin from forming on the surface.
Once the mixture has cooled completely, it's ready to serve. You can serve the Tubby Custard in bowls or pour it into a container and store it in the fridge for later.
