  • 4 oz. semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter
  • 1 cup granulated sugar

  • Vanilla ice cream, for serving (optional)

Step by Step Instructions To Make Domino’s Lava Cake

Step 2: Melt the chocolate and butter

The next step is to melt the chocolate and butter together. You can do this in the microwave or on the stovetop. Here’s how:

  • In a microwave-safe bowl, combine the butter and chocolate chips.
  • Microwave the mixture in 30-second increments, stirring after each interval, until the butter and chocolate are completely melted and combined.

If you prefer to melt the chocolate and butter on the stovetop, you can do so by using a double boiler.

Simply fill a saucepan with an inch of water and place a heatproof bowl on top, making sure the bowl does not touch the water.

Bring the water to a simmer, then add the butter and chocolate chips to the bowl. Stir until the mixture is melted and smooth.

Step 3: Mix the sugar and eggs

In a separate mixing bowl, whisk together the granulated sugar, eggs, and egg yolks until well combined.

Step 4: Combine the chocolate and egg mixtures

Slowly pour the melted chocolate and butter mixture into the egg mixture, whisking continuously until the two mixtures are completely combined.

Step 5: Add the dry ingredients

Next, add the all-purpose flour and salt to the chocolate and egg mixture, and stir until the dry ingredients are fully incorporated.

Step 6: Divide the batter and bake

Preheat your oven to 425°F. Grease four 6-ounce ramekins with cooking spray or butter. Divide the batter evenly between the ramekins, filling each one about three-quarters of the way full.

Place the ramekins on a baking sheet and bake for 12-14 minutes, or until the edges of the cakes are set but the centers are still slightly jiggly.

Step 7: Serve and enjoy!

Remove the ramekins from the oven and allow them to cool for a minute or two. Then, run a knife around the edges of each ramekin to loosen the cake.

Place a plate on top of each ramekin, then flip the plate and ramekin over so the cake is now on the plate.

Gently remove the ramekin to reveal the warm, gooey chocolate filling.

Dust the tops of the cakes with powdered sugar and serve immediately, optionally with a scoop of vanilla ice cream on the side.

How to know when my Domino’s Lava Cake cooked

How can I tell when the cakes are done baking? When you remove the cakes from the oven, the edges should be slightly puffed up and set, while the middle should be jiggly.

If you insert a toothpick into the middle of a cake, it should come out with a few moist crumbs. The middle should be slightly undercooked for lava.

When gently pressed on the top of the cake, it should be slightly firm but still, have some give in the middle.
