Preheat your oven to 350°F (180°C). Grease and flour a 9-inch round cake pan.
In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
In a large mixing bowl, beat the butter and sugar together until light and fluffy. Add in the eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition.
Pour in the Amaretto liqueur and mix until well combined.
Add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture in three parts, alternating with the milk, beginning and ending with the dry ingredients. Mix until just combined, making sure not to overmix.
Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and smooth out the top with a spatula.
Bake for 35-40 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cake comes out clean.
Remove the cake from the oven and let it cool in the pan for 10 minutes. Then, remove the cake from the pan and let it cool completely on a wire rack.
