Ingredients
  

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup 2 sticks unsalted butter, at room temperature
  • 3 large eggs beaten
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 6 tablespoons sugar
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 1/4 cup 1 stick unsalted butter, at room temperature, melted and cooled
  • 6 to 8 cups all-purpose sugar

Instructions
 

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Grease and flour one 9x13 inch baking pan. set aside.
  • In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder and salt. In the bowl of your electric mixer on medium speed, cream butter until light and fluffy.
  • Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in milk and vanilla extract; mix until just combined. Pour batter into prepared pan.
  • Sprinkle sugar and cornstarch over top of batter; sprinkle with melted butter and cooled butter.
  • Bake for 30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean when thrust into the center of the cake.
  • Cool on a wire rack for 10 minutes before serving.
